Radiation Exposure Data Collection and Dose Reconstruction
Radiation exposure research has been a cornerstone of Oak Ridge Associated Universities' epidemiologic research program. Past major projects includes:
- a mortality study of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) complex of workers with exposures of greater than 5 rem
- a comprehensive health surveillance project of DOE's Rocky Flats radiation workers
- reading and dose reconstruction of more than 100,000 neutron films to better characterize exposure.
Radiation Exposure Data Collection
ORAU applies its proven data collection techniques to projects specific to radiation exposure data.
Radiation Dose Reconstruction
Whether you need radiation dose reconstruction for compensation programs, epidemiological studies, accident or incident assessment, or environmental exposures, ORAU offers you a comprehensive suite of services. Current projects include:
- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Dose Reconstruction for Former Energy Workers
ORAU and its partners, MJW Corporation Inc. (MJW) and Dade Moeller & Associates, are reconstructing the radiation doses received by workers at various Department of Energy (DOE) and DOE contractor facilities.
- Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)
ORAU is assisting in the DTRA’s "atomic veterans" dose reconstruction program by providing QC reviews of completed dose reconstruction reports. We are also developing new, more efficient approaches to dose reconstruction to help DTRA clear a backlog of cases.
