MJW Corporation, Inc. (MJW)
ORAU and its partners, MJW Corporation Inc. (MJW) and Dade Moeller & Associates (DMA), were awarded a contract in 2002 to assist the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in fulfilling its responsibilities under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA)
NIOSH is responsible for reconstructing the amount of radiation exposure received by more than 18,000 former energy employees at various U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and DOE contractor facilities per the Energy EEOICPA.
The Act provides monetary reimbursement to employees’ families who have become ill or have died as a result of working in a nuclear energy facility.
The NIOSH contract enlisted the help of the ORAU Team to assist with:
- conducting one-on-one interviews with claimants
- gathering of and substantiation for individual monitoring data
- providing documentation of exposure conditions, and
- preparing individual dose reconstruction reports.
In addition to the NIOSH DR project, ORAU is also responsible for the evaluation of Special Exposure Cohort petitions received by the Institute.
