ORAU sponsors the Imagination Library, a Dolly Parton Dollywood Foundation project, which promotes literacy by providing a free book each month to area children from birth to age five. ORAU provides books for all children living in Anderson County.

The Dollywood Foundation has provided thousands of books to children in the area."This program was a perfect fit with ORAU's goals and vision for the future,” said ORAU President Ron Townsend. "What better way to advance education than to promote reading and imagination in preschool children in our community.”

ORAU also provides the Imagination Library to ORAU employees' children who are between one month and five years of age. Each child's first book will be the classic "The Little Engine That Could." Each child will continue to receive one hardcover, age-appropriate book free each month until he or she reaches the age of five. Books are chosen for each age group by a committee of parents, educators, child development specialists, publishers, and university professors.

If you would like to register your child in the program, complete our online registration form. More information is available on the about the Dollywood Imagination Library site, or contact April Hackler at april.hackler@orau.org or (865) 241-4339.
