One-Man Show Celebrates Black History

What:  A one-man show celebrating black history

When:  Feb. 14, 2-3:30 p.m.

Where:  Pollard Auditorium, Oak Ridge

Celebrate Black History Month 2002 with a one-man show portraying the history of African Americans, presented by Oak Ridge Associated Universities on Feb. 14, 2-3:30 p.m. in Pollard Auditorium, Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Using more than a dozen hats, Dr. Joe Cornelius, principal of Joseph Brown Elementary School in Maury County, will portray the history of African Americans in his performance of “Hats.”  The play, which Cornelius wrote, traces the past, present, and future of his people with drama, music, humor, and insight. In addition to “Hats,” Cornelius will also perform “Alexander,” and “The Devil and Leroy Jones.”

Cornelius has performed before national organizations as well as dozens of schools and churches. He has authored several plays.

The performance is free and the public is invited to attend.
