ORAU Recognized with Environmental Quality Award
OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Mayor David Bradshaw (left) presents Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) Facilities Director Rac Cox with a plaque at Monday night’s Oak Ridge City Council meeting. Cox accepted the award, on behalf of ORAU, from the City of Oak Ridge Environmental Quality Advisory Board (EQAB).
EQAB annually recognizes contributions to the city's environmental quality in several possible categories, including building preservation or renovation, neighborhood improvements, architectural design, landscaping, and roadway design. Nominations come from the community and are reviewed by a citizen committee.
ORAU was recognized for its 2004 project to renovate Pollard Technology Conference Center and construct its new main campus, 55,000 square-foot office building. At the city council meeting, EQAB representative Ellen Smith read comments from the EQAB committee praising campus landscaping, as well as the energy efficiency of the new office building.
