OAK RIDGE, Tenn. –ORAU employee Bill Tankersley participates in the 2008 ORAU Health and Safety Fair by getting his lung function checked with the help of Sharon Ollis of Methodist Medical Center. The Feb. 6 event, which took place at Pollard Technology Conference Center, was hosted by ORAU’s Occupational Health Office and involved more than 30 exhibitors from internal departments as well as throughout the Oak Ridge community.
The theme of the event—put your heart into your health—was designed to emphasize healthy hearts. The fair, as well as several keynote speakers, also covered a wide range of health, safety and security topics. Several vendors offered onsite health tests such as those done for lung function (as featured above) and blood pressure, and other vendors gave away samples, provided massages, or conducted demonstrations related to health, safety and security.
ORAU is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 98 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
