OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Associated Universities has extended a mentor-protégé agreement to Chainbridge Technologies, a Virginia-based software company focused on automating the development process for delivering cost-effective software applications. The agreement, which is effective through Jan. 31, 2010, may be extended for up to two additional one-year periods.

Chainbridge Technologies Co-founders Bob Allen and Chris Lee, along with Chainbridge Lead Developer, Mark Hildreth, joined ORAU President Ron Townsend in signing an agreement initiating a support relationship as provided for under the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Mentor-Protégé Program.  The DOE program encourages long-term business relationships between small business entities and DOE prime contractors, ultimately increasing the overall number of small businesses that receive DOE contract and subcontract awards.

“Chainbridge Technologies has a truly innovative approach to creating software solutions that streamline a variety of Web-based business operations,” Townsend said. “We’re excited about our new partnership and look forward to collaborating on many government and private sector initiatives.”

Under the new relationship, ORAU will assist Chainbridge Technologies in becoming a more viable contractor for government agencies and other contractors. Chainbridge will have opportunities to participate in subcontracting for support services in the areas of software creation, database support, training and manual development support, and analyst services as appropriate requirements become available. Initially, Chainbridge will work on special projects with ORAU’s National Security and Emergency Management Program. ORAU will also assist Chainbridge in pursuing other business opportunities, business development/management, planning, proposal writing/preparation and process improvement.

“The mentor-protégé agreement is an important step forward for Chainbridge Technologies. It will improve the combined capabilities of Chainbridge and ORAU and allow us to work as a team to support and enhance our products and services,” Allen said. “We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Founded in 2003 with a mission to radically change the way Web-enabled database applications are created, deployed and managed, Chainbridge Technologies seeks to reduce the time and cost of delivering specific business applications. Recognizing a need to streamline the software development industry, Chainbridge Technologies developed its flagship software product, the SQLDBI Solution Server.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 99 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) for the U.S. Department of Energy.
