Multi-modal Sensor Fusion and Sensor Networks

Research and algorithm development are needed for a network of distributed multi-modal sensor systems with adapting networks conditions.  The network of sensor nodes can exhibit heterogeneity in a variety of dimensions such as sensor modality, sensor reach and field of view, and data/information processing and delivery.  Important research issues include: (i) efficient multi-modal, multi-sensor data/information fusion, (ii) distributed/decentralized processing for sensor networks, (iii) metadata representation of disparate information, e.g., sensor information from a physical system and/or contextual information from a human source.
