General Electric RB-2-4.5 Radiator Tube (ca. 1930s)

This General Electric tube seems to be very similar to the Model RB-1-4:  it uses a dual focus cathode (two filaments of differing sizes) and the target angle is close to 20 degrees. The "B" in the model designation probably refers to the fact that the filament is of the Benson type. The "2" in the model number indicates that one of the filaments produces a fine to medium focus while the "4.5" indicates that the other filament produces a very broad focus.  More specifically, this number indicates the approximate diameter of the projected focal spot in mm. A switch would normally be connected to the tube that would allow the radiologist to select which filament would be used. Such a switch can be seen plugged onto the end of the General Electric RB-1-4 radiator tube.
Size: ca. 14" long (excluding rod for radiator fins), 3 3/4" bulb diameter
