Experimental immunology studies on marmosets were begun under sponsorship of the U.S. Air Force in 1963.
In February 1963, construction on the new library building and Administration Annex was completed. The new library building was formally dedicated in the fall of 1963. It was designated as an AEC depository, which allowed it to make collections and services available to the general public regardless of place of residence.
The AEC summer institute on "Humanistic Discussions in Science" was offered by ORINS in 1963. The six-week institute attended by 30 distinguished professors of history, philosophy, political science, sociology, literature, and art brought together the often disparate communities of the science and humanities.
Attendance at the American Museum of Atomic Energy reached a record high of 122,346 in 1963, a gain of 19,290 over the previous year. Visitors represented all 50 states and 88 foreign countries.
