Environmental surveyPhoto: Since the early 1980s, ORAU has provided radiological surveys and verifications at sites across the country for both DOE and the NRC.

 

In February 1983, the University Programs Division organized a major DOE conference in Washington, D.C., for representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Its purpose was to acquaint the representatives with DOE's mission, research areas, and procedures for submitting proposals.

Preparing the second Energy-Related Manpower Report for DOE's Office of Energy Research was a major activity for MERT's Labor and Policy Studies Program in 1983. The report described the employment needs for the next five years and assessed the adequacy of future supplies of scientists and engineers.

In 1983, researchers in the nuclear medicine group initiated an investigation of how radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies are being developed, and chromatographic procedures were designed for purification of the radiolabeled antibodies.
