ANDY PAGE

President and Chief Executive Officer

Andy Page is president and CEO of ORAU and director of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. Page joined ORAU in 1999 and previously served as the vice president and director of ORAU’s national security and emergency management program. Prior to ORAU, he served nearly 25 years with the U.S. Marine Corps. Page holds master’s degrees in management, education and national resource strategy. He serves on the boards of directors for the East Tennessee Economic Council, the Tennessee Valley Corridor, the Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation, and is a member of the UT-Battelle Board of Governors.

ERIC W. ABELQUIST

Executive Vice President and Deputy Director of ORISE

Since 2009, Dr. Eric W. Abelquist has served as ORAU’s executive vice president and deputy director of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. Abelquist joined ORAU in 1993 and was previously vice president of the Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification Program. He has a doctorate in nuclear engineering and a master’s degree in radiological sciences and protection. Abelquist also serves on the boards of directors for the United Way of Anderson County, the Oak Ridge Center for Leadership and Community Development, and the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge.

J. PHIL ANDREWS

Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Phil Andrews has been ORAU’s vice president of business operations and chief financial officer since joining the organization in 2007. Andrews has more than 30 years of experience in financial operations. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and is a certified public accountant. Andrews also serves as a member of the Methodist Medical Advisory Board.

“Reflecting on our national and local roles in DOE’s science, national security and environmental clean-up missions, along with the unwavering commitment of ORAU’s workforce to continuous improvement, I’m excited about what ORAU is today… but even more enthusiastic about what ORAU will become in the future.”

CHESTER K. MAZE

Vice President, Chief Information Officer

Chester Maze joined ORAU in 2010 as vice president of information technology and chief information officer responsible for all IT strategy and operations. With more than 30 years for experience in IT, Maze has previously held leadership positions in the health care, university and many services industries. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee.

VICKIE L. CAUGHRON

Chief Audit Officer

Vickie Caughron has 23 years of experience in all aspects of auditing, and she joined ORAU as chief audit officer in 2000. She holds a master’s degree in management and is certified as a public accountant, a fraud examiner, and an internal auditor. Caughron also serves on the ORNL Federal Credit Union board of director’s supervisory committee.

IVAN A. BOATNER

Vice President and General Counsel

Ivan Boatner joined ORAU as general counsel in 2004 following 10 years with the U.S. Department of Energy. He also is responsible for legal support to the Oak Ridge Institute for Science Education, which is managed by ORAU for DOE. Boatner received his law degree from Tulane University.

ARLENE A. GARRISON, Ph.D.

Vice President, University Partnerships

Dr. Arlene Garrison is vice president of university partnerships at Oak Ridge Associated Universities, responsible for enhancing ORAU's scientific research opportunities and expanding partnerships with universities, national laboratories and private industry. She has more than 35 years of experience in science, education and program administration. Garrison has a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of Tennessee.

“ORAU delivers value to the universities in many ways, and we are particularly excited about the partnerships we are initiating between our member universities and ORAU subject matter experts.”

JAMEY K. KENNEDY

Vice President, Business Development

Jamey Kennedy is vice president of business development at ORAU. She joined the organization in 2008 as director of business development and was appointed to her current position in 2010. Kennedy brings more than 30 years of experience in business development and strategic planning for business-to-business and business-to-government. She holds a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology and is currently pursuing her doctorate.

“The last several years have brought many national challenges into sharp focus, and we’re working closely with our current and potential customers to make the best use of every dollar and to provide solutions that achieve measurable progress in their mission areas.”

DANIEL W. STANDLEY

Vice President, Human Resources

Dan Standley joined ORAU as vice president of human resources in 1991. He has ultimate responsibility for all human resource functions for ORAU and the Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education. Standley’s human resources career spans more than 30 years. He holds a master’s degree in personnel supervision and management from Central Michigan University. He serves on the boards of directors for the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee and the Indian Creek Productions Powwow Committee.

MONNIE E. CHAMPION

Corporate Secretary and Director of Administrative Operations

Monnie E. Champion currently serves as corporate secretary and director of administrative operations of ORAU. As secretary, Champion is one of three elected officers of the corporation. She supports the board of directors in meeting its governance and fiduciary responsibilities.

MONIKA J. SCHILLER

Senior Advisor

Monika Schiller, senior advisor to ORAU’s president and CEO, joined ORAU in 2004. She began her ORAU career in the company’s National Security and Emergency Management program where she steadily advanced and served as a group manager before her appointment to her current role in 2009. Schiller holds a master’s degree in international relations and is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration.

SARAH J. ROBERTS

Vice President and Director, Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification

With more than 15 years of experience in nuclear decontamination and decommissioning, Sarah Roberts serves as vice president and director of ORAU’s Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification program. After interning at ORAU in 1994, Roberts rejoined the company in 2005 as a project manager and was appointed to her current role in 2009. Roberts holds a master’s degree in health physics and is certified by the American Board of Health Physics.

“We are an organization that refuses to remain stagnant. We continually look forward to figure out how we can do things better—for our customers, for our employees, and for the community.”

PERRY A. (TONY) LESTER

Vice President and Director, Scientific and Technical Resource Integration

Tony Lester joined ORAU in 1990 and has held multiple leadership positions critical to ORAU’s continuing growth. Today he serves as vice president and director of the Scientific and Technical Resource Integration Program. Lester holds a master’s degree in management and a bachelor’s in education with a concentration in industrial training.

DAVID L. HACKEMEYER

Vice President and Director, National Security and Emergency Management

Dave Hackemeyer joined ORAU after more than 20 years with the FBI and is the vice president of the National Security and Emergency Management Program. His areas of expertise include counterterrorism, tactical operations and crisis management. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Hackemeyer has received advanced training with the FBI, Air Force and Marines, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.

“We help government agencies work together more efficiently, knock down barriers and save money all in an effort to detect and deter those who would do our nation harm. We have a great mission and everyone at ORAU is dedicated to it.”

DONNA L. CRAGLE, Ph.D.

Vice President and Director, Occupational Exposure and Worker Health

Dr. Donna Cragle joined ORAU in 1981 and is the vice president and director of the company’s Occupational Exposure and Worker Health Program. The primary focus of her research has been occupational epidemiology with particular interest in radiation and beryllium exposure. She has a doctorate in environmental epidemiology and a master’s degree in human genetics. Cragle lectures nationally and internationally and has contributed more than 30 publications to occupational epidemiology literature.

“In terms of occupational health, everything that ORAU does—our screening programs, the beryllium sensitivity testing—has a tangible benefit to someone, and that gives us a great deal of satisfaction in the work we do.”

MARCUS A. WESEMAN

Vice President and Director, Health Communication and Technical Training Programs

Marcus Weseman joined ORAU in 1978, and today serves as vice president and director of ORAU’s Health Communication and Technical Training program. Weseman holds a master of public administration and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the board of directors for the Appalachian Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“We are always focused on high-priority national health issues but constantly adapting to solve different problems for our customers and leveraging the latest technologies to help agencies reach more people more quickly at a lower cost.”

WAYNE L. STEVENSON, Ph.D.

Vice President and Director, Science Education Programs

Dr. Wayne Stevenson, vice president and director of ORAU’s Science Education Programs, joined ORAU in 1979 and brings more than 40 years of experience in the development, management and evaluation of national scholarship, fellowship and internship programs. Stevenson holds a doctorate in economics and mathematics from the University of Minnesota. He has authored books and reports on a variety of science and technology workforce topics and has testified before Congress and served on federal and state task forces.

“We’re supporting so many really talented students to pursue research and degrees in fields important to our government’s scientific mission. In the past 10 years we’ve administered about a billion dollars in support to help students get started on their careers… that is a really satisfying thing!”

ALBERT L. WILEY, M.D., Ph.D.

Medical/Technical Director, Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site

Dr. Albert Wiley is the medical and technical director of radiation emergency medicine programs at ORAU with overall responsibility for the emergency medical care, continuing medical education courses and research conducted by the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site. He is also head of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center at Oak Ridge. With more than 40 years of medical experience in radiation oncology and nuclear medicine, Wiley is a leading authority in these fields. He earned his medical degree from University of Rochester School of Medicine and also holds a doctorate in radiological sciences.

ROSE J. NAPIER

Director, Employee Relations and Diversity

Rose Napier is ORAU’s director of employee relations and diversity. She joined ORAU in 2004 and brings more than 25 years of HR experience with particular focus on employee relations and retention programs, techniques to maximize the benefits of diversity in the workplace, and employee development. Napier holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management.

ROBERT J. KAPOLKA

Director, Environment, Safety and Health

Since joining ORAU in 1995, Bob Kapolka has served as the company’s director of environment, health and safety. He has led the organization to become a Star Site among participants in the U.S. Department of Energy Voluntary Protection Program and achieve ISO 14001 registration for environmental management. Kapolka has a master’s degree in environmental health and a master’s of business administration.

RANDALL W. SPINNEY, Ph.D.

Director, Integrated Management and Assurance

Dr. Randall Spinney joined ORAU in 1997 and today serves as the director of integrated management and assurance. With more than 40 years of experience in training, program assessment and quality management, Spinney is trained as an ISO 9001 lead auditor and Total Quality Management facilitator. He holds both a master’s degree and doctorate in education.

THOMAS P. AMIDON

Director, Safeguards and Security

Tom Amidon joined ORAU in 2007 and became director of safeguards and security in 2008. In this role he is responsible for the physical, information, cyber and personnel security programs. Amidon’s career in security and intelligence spans more than 22 years including service in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and has studied Mandarin Chinese.
