Multimodal Multisensor Data Fusion for Target Tracking, Target Detection, and Classification
Advisor: Damarla, Thyagaraju (thyagarju@us.army.mil 301-394-1266)
Keywords: Signal Processing
ARL is developing a sensor fusion program to detect, track, and classify different (DTC) targets-namely military and civilian vehicles and personnel. The goal is to deploy a large number of multimodal sensors that are cheap in the areas of interest and fuse the data collected to perform DTC of targets. The fusion is done both in time and space to improve the probability of detection and improve the probability of correct classification with improved confidence. The research would focus on developing new fusion paradigms in spatio-temporal domain. It involves new algorithms to classify civilian vehicles and personnel using acoustic, seismic, and imaging sensor data. Research would also involve development of algorithms for data association and fusion algorithms that can be implemented in real-time. Higher level fusion techniques will be developed for persistent tracking and to draw intelligent, surveillance, and reconnaissance information.
