The Boys Club of Oak Ridge is a member of the United Way of Anderson County and Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The Boys Club owns and operates its headquarters at 102 South Jefferson Circle. The primary mission of the organization is to help boys of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible men. The club serves an active membership of approximately 700 boys 7-17 years of age through extended services and programs. Low membership dues enable all boys to obtain a membership with an equal opportunity. The club building is open 5 days per week on a year-round schedule. The club gives boys the opportunity to make new friends, and through its diversified social, athletic, craft, and educational programs gives the chance to learn skills for work and play. Most often, the most important service provided is the enhancement of self-esteem via role models and positive encouragement. Leadership is the key to any successful organization. The Boys Club provides caring, giving, and responsible staff members as well as many respected volunteers. The organization is indeed fortunate to attract quality men and women volunteers to enable it to provide positive outlets for our members. Its leadership, facilities, and services enable the club to provide a large number of youth with "FUN WITH A PURPOSE" in Oak Ridge and Anderson County. |
