Safety professional including health physicists, safety specialists, industrial hygienists, and others may be called upon to assist health-care professionals with medical management of radiation injuries and illnesses. To meet this need, ORAU's premier training groups have joined to conduct this new five-day course.
An application for continuing education credits has been submitted to the American Academy of Health Physics and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
ORAU's Professional Training Programs brings its radiological sciences expertise together with ORAU's Radiation Emergency Medicine (REM) program. REM operates the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS) for the U.S. Department of Energy. Both groups have delivered exciting programs to technical and medical professionals for decades. This course gives an in-depth review of radiation sources of concern and their related health hazards.
Description
The one-week lecture/demonstration course is an introduction to the integration of safety professionals into medicine and the management of radiation-induced injuries and illnesses.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for those safety individuals who anticipate involvement with radiation-induced injuries and illnesses in business, industry, hospitals, DOE or NRC facilities, or the military. Participants should be familiar with the principles of radiation detection and measurement.
Cost
A tuition of $1,795 includes the full cost of training, books, and instructional materials. Attendees will receive a free copy of the PTP Electronic Library CD.
