WeB-MEDIS
Oak Ridge Associated Universities emergency management experts have designed, developed, and deployed the WeB-MEDIS system to provide emergency responders with a highly portable system for inputting and sharing patient data from the field.
Patient vital signs, contamination, and transportation status are entered into a Palm or Pocket PC PDA, while being viewed by the receiving hospitals and emergency operations centers in the region.
The WeB-MEDIS system has been successfully demonstrated in an event with more than 130 patients.
During an exercise, first responders use the WeB-MEDIS system to track and transmit patient information to those who need it.
