Policy Planning & Development

Defining an organization's and personnel's responsibilities through policies, plans, and guidelines is an important part of preparing to respond to national security or other types of emergencies. Such documentation offers an element of consistency to a response. It can also help your organization identify areas where training may be needed. Ultimately, these documents help your personnel know what to do to protect workers, the public, and the environment during the response to a national or international emergency.

The staff from Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) has been involved in the development of some of our nation's most important response plans, including the overarching National Response Plan. We bring a comprehensive knowledge on what is needed to develop thorough and effective plans and policies.

National Incident Management System (NIMS)
ORAU helps government agencies at all levels nationwide in their efforts to comply with the standards and requirements of NIMS.

Support to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
ORAU employees have assisted in developing and/or reviewing multiple national policies and plans for the DHS Contingency Planning and Support Division.
