FULL-TIME TEMPORARY UP TO 1 YEAR
PURPOSE: To design and develop health information and instructional materials and tools for print or Web for various audiences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Designs and develops content for traditional and eLearning courses and training activities that use a variety of technology applications such as Flash, Dreamweaver, and web-enabled databases. Understands and acts on commonly accepted eLearning theory and uses systematic approach (e.g., ADDIE, ISD) to develop training and communication materials.
* Conducts needs/job/task analysis to determine content of training programs, training support materials, and appropriate design strategy. Interacts with customers to determine project scope, requirements, and other production-related issues. Utilizes results of the analysis to design procedural or instructional content.
* Evaluates training programs, courses, and materials using quality and customer standards. Analyzes training programs by examining learner's satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance. Conducts quality assurance reviews on products. Develops testing plans and procedures for both traditional training and eLearning programs.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
* Develops procedural or instructional materials (i.e., job aids, activities, scenarios) on appropriate levels for various target audiences.
* Communicates the design to customer and the multidisciplinary development team (e.g., writers, programmers, artists, database programmers, etc.) Proactively identifies risks and responds to obstacles with solution-focused recommendations. May serve as project lead for some instructional design and implementation projects.
* Facilitates training, presentations, or development meetings.
BS in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Communication or Curriculum Development and 6-10 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education or experience including 2+ years of experience and demonstrated creativity in Web-based courseware development and instructional design and development required. Master's degree preferred.
Must have:
* in-depth knowledge of systematic training development approach(es) and eLearning theory;
* strong, proven instructional assessment, design, development and evaluation experience;
* strong technology development background with proven experience in designing and developing eLearning programs and tools (EPSS, CBT, WBT);
* knowledge and experience conducting needs assessments to determine specific training needs.
* knowledge and experience designing materials for various audiences using appropriate delivery methods.
* experience in conducting training and evaluating training curriculum, and in designing and developing testing plans and procedures for traditional and eLearning programs.
* user interface design skills and knowledge of usability issues related to Web-course design, SCORM, and experience with developing Section 508 compliant materials. Familiarity/understanding and skill using various Web 2.0 technologies desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
* excellent design and development skills using industry standard eLearning development tools (Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver) screen capturing tools (Camtasia Studio, Captivate), usability testing tools (Morae), and media development tools (Adobe Creative Suite, PhotoShop, Fireworks).
* excellent writing skills; must and be able to write clear and concise text on appropriate level for target audience. Experience in Info Mapping and Plain Language writing desired.
* ability to analyze and simplify complex processes to design learning activities;
* excellent computer skills and knowledge of business software applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint and Adobe products;
* strong presentation, communication skills, collaboration and teamworking skills;
* ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and capable of working in a sometimes fast-paced production environment;
* ability to travel occasionally. Bilingual (Spanish) speaking and writing desired.
Candidate should provide samples of their technical writing and design/development skills (needs assessments, task/content analyses, document designs, job aids, evaluations, Web interface designs, Web pages, etc.) with application and bring larger portfolio if selected for interview.
