ORAU Develops Health Disparity Interventions for Special Populations

Despite advances in health care, an ever aging and growing minority population continues to exhibit disproportionate health conditions, which magnifies the importance of addressing health disparities.

On the other hand, evidence shows that those engaging in risky health behaviors can be educated and behaviors modified through interventions that rally and educate communities, screen for risk factors and in the end, change environments.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) helps communities improve quality of life and reduce health disparities by developing interventions that address the complex causes and numerous barriers related to these gaps in health status. 

We are specifically working with churches and other faith-based organizations to reduce or eliminate trends in minority health disparities.

We also develop culturally competent outreach programs to address those health issues that disproportionately impact minorities and underserved populations.
