Partnerships for Innovation

According to Healthy People 2010, nearly half of American adults (90 million people) living in special populations are deemed “health illiterate,” which means they are unable to read and understand materials related to personal health or navigate the health system.
As experts in educating populations facing health disparities, Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) works with agencies to develop health literacy programs that help individuals better understand the benefits of wellness and prevention to their overall health.
From message to material development, we use tools such as electronic communication and Web-based technologies to reach people and help them take control of their health.
And better yet, ORAU tests the materials with the people who will use them the most!
