TravWell App Wins National Awards

CDC TravWell mobile appThe Travelers’ Health Branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) sought an app for people to use before, during and after international trips. The Branch tasked ORAU with designing iOS and Android versions of the mobile app, TravWell, to disseminate health and safety information to international travelers.

The TravWell mobile app received the first place award for mobile applications from the National Association of Government Communicators in the 2016 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards Competition. Also, the TravWell mobile app received the 2016 CDC & ATSDR Honor Award for Excellence in Information Technology.

ORAU provided the following capabilities and services to develop the award-winning mobile app:

  • Usability testing and evaluation

The TravWell app has received favorable reviews from international travelers because of its convenience and ease of use. The app has a 4.7-star (of 5) rating and has been called a “must have.” TravWell users can build a trip with dates and countries of travel, and the mobile app provides destination-specific vaccine recommendations, customizable packing and “to do” lists, electronic storage for travel health documents, emergency services numbers for the destination, and links to any travel notices in effect.
