The 2006 Meeting

Since 1951, Nobel Laureates in chemistry, physics, and physiology/medicine have convened annually in Lindau, Germany, to have open and informal meetings with students and young researchers. In September 2004, the first Lindau Meeting in Economic Sciences was held. Hundreds of students attended the three-day conference. The event consisted of formal lectures in the morning, while the remainder of the day was set aside for the students to meet in smaller, informal sessions with the laureates.

In 2006, the National Science Foundation offered travel support to approximately 50 students from the United States. Students were nominated by the chair of their department to the National Science Foundation, using the nomination form.

The Lindau Foundation paid for registration, lodging, and food for invited students. The National Science Foundation reimburses invited students for part of their travel costs (at least $650). Participants make their own travel arrangements to Lindau, while the Lindau Committee arranges student accommodations.
