Media Advisory: ORAU to Host Oak Ridge Robotics Camp

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FY11-31
June 7, 2011

What: ORAU is hosting a week-long robotics and engineering day camp for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. Teams will design, build and program their own robot, which will be tested and showcased at the end of the week. Working in small teams, students will also spend the week competing in various engineering challenges, such as suspending a cement block one inch off of the ground using only three note cards. As part of the camp, participants will have the opportunity to tour Oak Ridge National Laboratory's research facilities and learn from robotics engineering research scientists.

ORAU will host family and friends of campers during the afternoon of Friday, June 17, as students present their final robotics design, research and programming.

The media is invited to schedule a site visit during one of the engineering projects completed throughout the week, or attend demonstrations of students' robotic projects during Friday's closing event.
