ORAU Promotes Pehrson to Director of Financial Operations

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Patsy Pehrson has been promoted to director of financial operations for Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). Pehrson has served as interim director of ORAU Financial Operations since August 2007.

Prior to that, Pehrson was ORAU controller, where she served as principal liaison with ORAU internal audit, independent auditors, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) audit groups, and other management evaluation and financial groups. She also provided accounting and financial advice to senior management and led business improvement teams such as the Travel Management System, Oracle Time & Labor, Business Continuity Plan and the Diversity Council.

As director, Pehrson will oversee all accounting operations for ORAU and ORISE including corporate accounts, financial reporting, general ledger, accounts receivable, payroll, disbursements, funds control, cash management, travel and billing.

"She has exceptional experience in accounting policies and procedures, and her commitment to ORAU and ORISE initiatives will certainly help us grow in both the near and long-term future."

Pehrson has more than 17 years experience in financial management, business systems oversight, strategic planning and audit support. Prior to joining ORAU in 2000, Pehrson was senior corporate auditor for Goody's Family Clothing and project financial controller for BNFL, Inc.

After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in accounting, Pehrson went on to attain her Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. She is also a member of the Tennessee Society for Certified Public Accountants, a professional development society committed to the representation of eight chapters across the state.
