During this week’s ORAU Board of Directors meeting, eight students from Oak Ridge’s Linden Elementary School and their teacher, Brent Lee (back row, far right), had the opportunity to work with the technology within ORAU’s new Center for Science Education classroom.
The third graders used small hand-held microscopes to search for various items hidden within a one dollar bill and then recorded their findings using an interactive SMART board.
At the event, ORAU also announced plans to kick-off a middle school science camp later this summer in partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 98 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
