Oak Ridge Resident Recognized for 50 Years
with ORAU

Howard McCloud was recently presented with a cake by ORAU Director Eric Abelquist

After 50 years of service, Howard McCloud (pictured above) was recently presented with a cake by ORAU Director Eric Abelquist in honor of being ORAU's longest, tenured current employee.

McCloud, an Oak Ridge resident, is an electronic instrument instructor in ORAU's Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification Program and continues to maintain a cache of training and health physics instrumentation. He began his career with ORAU on Mar. 3, 1959, and has worked in the same department ever since.

Abelquist noted that “Howard has a knack for making the impossible possible by keeping equipment running… and making sure the labs run seamlessly.”

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 101 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
