OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—United States Congressman and Tennessee Gubernatorial candidate Zach Wamp visited ORAU on Wednesday to gain an overview of the organization’s science education programs and to tour the Center for Science Education.
Hosting the tour were ORAU Interim President Homer Fisher and ORAU Director of Science Education Programs Wayne Stevenson, who explained the purpose of the center and the capabilities of its technology classroom. According to Stevenson, “the classroom provides a portal to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and technology being conducted across the country, enabling educators to bring it into their own classrooms.”
The center, which hosts teacher and student workshops and other activities that support educating a new generation of students in the digital age, opened in January.
