Lokitz joins ORAU as Associate General Counsel

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Rachel Lokitz has recently joined Oak Ridge Associated Universities as the associate general counsel.

In this role, Lokitz will assist the general counsel in planning and directing ORAU’s legal affairs. She will also provide counsel and support to ORAU on matters such as corporate policies and procedures, insurance, contracts, litigation and employment issues.

“Rachel’s impressive academic accomplishments and previous experience make her particularly well-suited for the position,” said Ivan Boatner, ORAU’s vice president and general counsel. “She will be an invaluable asset as we continue to address ever-changing business and legal complexities.”

Prior to joining ORAU, Lokitz served as a student attorney for The University of Tennessee College of Law’s business clinic, where she assisted a software company in forming a limited liability company, drafted licensing agreements and assisted non-profit organizations in filing for tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. Lokitz has also clerked for the firms of Wagner, Myers & Sanger, P.C. and Butler, Vines & Babb, P.L.L.C.

Lokitz graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., and attended the University of Tennessee College of Law where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude.
