OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—ORAU has named Chad Becker as director of its Facilities and Transportation Department, beginning March 30.

In his new position, Becker will manage and direct facility and transportation operations for ORAU’s 18 locations across the country, including Oak Ridge. He will also oversee U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-owned properties included in ORAU’s management of DOE’s Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. He will also be responsible for day-to-day oversight of departmental functions, budgets and more than 35 staff. Additionally, Becker will provide consultation on major capital investments, such as vehicle fleets, and advise the organization on all facility-related matters.

Prior to joining ORAU, Becker held the position of director of facilities, safety and security for Scripps Network for 12 years, where he carried out international oversight of facilities, safety and security for channels such as HGTV, Food Network and DIY. Becker also spent five years as the director of facilities, safety and security for Pellissippi State Community College.

Becker has a master’s degree in safety education and service and a bachelor’s degree in education, industrial training and management, both of which he received from the University of Tennessee.

An East Tennessee native and resident of Knoxville, Becker currently serves as the program director for Samaritan Homes, a non-profit organization providing long-term sustainability projects and medical support to the Republic of Haiti.

“Chad brings a vast amount of experience in facilities, safety and security management to his new role at ORAU,” said ORAU President and CEO Andy Page. “His knowledge and experience will be a strong complement to ORAU’s culture of maintaining safe and secure facilities and operations.”
