Knoxville Residents Accept ORAU Awards
Knoxville residents Jill Krase and Wade Ivey accept Oak Ridge Associated Universities’ Achievement Cash Awards from ORAU President Ron Townsend. The ORAU program provided more than $46,000 in cash bonuses to recognize outstanding employees and teams for their contributions over the past year.
Krase was one of 79 employees recognized by the company and was honored for planning ORAU’s response to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Dose Reconstruction Request for Proposal. Award of this multi-year contract to ORAU more than doubled the yearly revenue for the Basic and Applied Research program at ORAU.
Ivey was recognized by ORAU for developing a new analytical procedure used in the analysis of alpha-emitting isotopes in independent verification sample testing for DOE, the NRC, and other agencies. An organic waste stream was eliminated by this process, while the radioanalytical needs of the customers continue to be met.
ORAU is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 88 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
