ORAU/ORNL Host Graduate School Fair, Poster Session
OAK RIDGE, TENN — At left, undergraduate Candice Scheffing talks with David Monts of Mississippi State University and Will Cantrell of Michigan Technological University at the student poster session held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) on August 6. The session gave university representatives a chance to learn about the research that 115 undergraduate students conducted at the lab over the summer.
Scheffing and 68 other students also participated in a graduate school fair sponsored by ORNL and Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) at the Doubletree Hotel in Oak Ridge to learn more about graduate opportunities at 17 ORAU member schools. Scheffing said the fair was “great” and that she wishes she had attended last year. She has already been accepted by North Carolina State University.
Scheffing and Bhatt were participants in 10-week summer research programs at ORNL. Scheffing was part of the Department of Energy Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships program. Bhatt had an ORNL Higher Education Research Experience fellowship. Both programs are administered by ORISE. For information of other educational opportunities through ORISE, visit see.orau.org.
