ORAU Employees “Raise the Roof” to Kick Off Giving Campaign

United Way cake cutting

ORAU managers participated in a “cake breaking” to kick off ORAU's “Raisin’ the Roof for United Way and Community Shares” giving campaign. As builders are raisin' the roof on ORAU's new corporate building, the company decided to adopt this theme for its giving campaign to encourage employees to exceed the successes of last year's campaign. Pictured are (L to R): ORAU Information Systems Director Beth Jinkerson, ORISE Program Director Mike Wetzel, ORAU President Ron Townsend, and ORISE Program Director Marcus Weseman.

Employees enjoyed pizza aplenty and free ORAU sweatshirts as they turned in their pledge cards at the kick-off lunch. Within just two days, ORAU employees had donated more than $37,000, with over a month left to go in the campaign. Within two weeks, participation had reached 77 percent with donations totaling $46,000. Last year's overall donations totaled $47,400.

(ORAU) is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 86 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
