ORAU Makes Donation to Kingston Elementary for Science and Math Education
OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) recently donated more than $2,600—through its Volunteers in Education Team (VET) program—to two teachers at Kingston Elementary School.
The first check was for $1,600 to purchase science materials such as microscopes, laboratory kits, and a flex cam for Mr. Dave Corum’s 5th grade class. The objective is to help raise TCAP scores through the use of hands-on demonstration materials.
The second check was for $1,050 to purchase math and science software for Ms. Kathryn Pierce’s 1st grade class. The objective is to aid the students’ mastery of addition and subtraction skills and to advance the students’ knowledge of math and science through fun with technology.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 88 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry.
