ORAU Awards $29,000 in Education Grants to Local Schools

OAK RIDGE , Tenn.Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) awarded more than $29,000 in grants to 16 education programs in 14 local schools during a reception Monday evening.

About 60 people attended the reception at ORAU’s Pollard Technology Conference Center in Oak Ridge as teachers and administrators enthusiastically accepted their grants.

“The reception is a great opportunity to recognize some outstanding teachers in the community who are bringing innovation and academic excellence to their classrooms,” Townsend said. “A large part of the ORAU mission is to support and enhance education,” he added.

Several months ago, ORAU solicited proposals from teachers throughout the local area, and winning proposals were chosen on a competitive basis.

The recipients and grant amounts were:

ORAU awarded $13,660 in educational grants to Anderson County Schools, $6,200 to Clinton City Schools, and $9,290 to Oak Ridge City Schools during a reception Monday evening. Overall, ORAU awarded more than $29,000 in educational grants to 14 schools in Anderson County, Clinton, and Oak Ridge.
