ORAU Assists with ADFAC Donation and Distribution

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) employees are reaching out to the community again, and this time it’s benefiting the Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC) program. ORAU is wrapping up a campaign in which employees partner with ADFAC to supply local children with back-to-school supplies. ORAU donated approximately $2,800 of school supplies for families, and twenty-seven employees are volunteering at the distribution center to deliver materials to students this week.

This is the sixth year ORAU has assisted ADFAC, which is an independent, nonprofit organization that reaches out to underprivileged families within the community, providing basic survival necessities and striving to improve or replace existing substandard housing. ADFAC’s goal is to restore pride and stability to neighborhoods.
ORAU is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 91 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
