ORAU Awarded Contract with CDC with Multi-Million Dollar Funding Potential in Health Services Marketing/Communications
OAK RIDGE, TENN.—ORAU was recently awarded a seven-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct health communications research for the agency. ORAU and 16 other contractors were chosen from more than 60 bidders to win the CDC contract. ORAU can competitively bid on task orders under this contract up to $10 million per year.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with the CDC on their health communications research initiatives,” ORAU Program Director Marcus Weseman said. “This type of work falls directly in line with ORAU’s commitment to assist the government and federal agencies in effectively communicating health information.”
As an ID/IQ contractor for the CDC in health marketing and communications, ORAU would provide services in the areas of conducting focus groups and developing and testing messages on a variety of disease topics. In addition, ORAU would work to create technology-based education products, such as interactive and simulated learning tools, that will be used to inform and train providers and consumers on the latest health information while implementing a social marketing approach—the idea of using of marketing techniques alongside other concepts to achieve specific behavioral goals for a social good.
ORAU was the only university consortium chosen as part of the ID/IQ with the CDC and one of only a few nonprofit organizations that were selected. ORAU leverages the scientific strength of 98 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
The contract period began at the end of April.
