Roberts Promoted to Survey Projects Manager for ORAU’s Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification Programs

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Sarah Roberts was recently promoted to survey projects manager for Oak Ridge Associated Universities’ (ORAU) independent environmental assessment and verification programs.
In her new position, Roberts will be responsible for managing a team of health physicists and survey technicians who perform radiological surveys to verify the remediation efforts at decontamination and decommissioning projects across the United States. Roberts will also work to continuously improve the organization’s survey procedures manual and expand the technical capabilities of its survey instrumentation.
Roberts joined ORAU in 2005 and, prior to her promotion, served as a project leader whose main responsibilities included planning, implementing and managing radiological and chemical surveys, as well as verification of recently remediated sites managed by the U.S. Department of Energy and licensed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Roberts, a certified health physicist with the American Board of Health Physics, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ohio University and a master’s degree in health physics from Colorado State University.
ORAU is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 98 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
