ORAU Completes $1 Million Pledge to New Oak Ridge High School

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—ORAU President Ron Townsend presented a check for $400,000 to Lila Metcalf (left), Director of the Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation (ORPSEF), and Pat Postma, ORPSEF Board Member, Friday morning at the weekly meeting of the East Tennessee Economic Council at the University of Tennessee Outreach Center in Oak Ridge. The check completes ORAU’s pledge of $1 million towards construction of the new Oak Ridge High School. Postma chairs the fundraising campaign for the 381,000 square foot building, which is scheduled for completion in May 2008.

ORAU is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of 98 major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy.
