Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Oak Ridge, TN
The Materials Science and Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is looking for a Post-Master’s Researcher.
The Qualified candidate will conduct research and development in materials joining, focusing on developing welding systems and sensors for friction stir welding, and in-situ temperature and stress measurement during welding. Develop and apply measurement system to study the localized deformation and damage processes in weldment. Develop computational models to simulate the effect of microstructure evolution on the formation of welding residual stress. Publish high impact research results, and assist senior R&D members to develop research proposals.
Must have a MS or equivalent in the Materials Science and Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Prior research experience in materials joining system automation and/or sensoring.
Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
