Arkansas State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position starting Aug.16, 2006 in Theoretical Nuclear Physics/Astrophysics. Arkansas State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer with a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff. In pursuit of this commitment, we are seeking a faculty member with an earned doctorate in physics, preferably with postdoctoral research experience in theoretical nuclear physics and/or astrophysics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program strengthening existing programs in the department in nuclear reaction theories and/or nuclear astrophysics, establish an externally funded research program involving students, and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and service. Arkansas State University is located in Jonesboro, 65 miles northwest of Memphis, TN and 130 miles northeast of Little Rock, AR. Jonesboro, with a population of approximately 55,000, provides an excellent quality of life, good public schools, and a reasonable cost of living. ASU enrolls over 9,000 undergraduate and about 1,500 graduate students. Review of applications will begin on Dec.1, 2005 and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit electronically a letter of application, their resume, research plan and statements of teaching philosophy. At least three reference letters should be sent directly to: Dr. Bao-An Li

The Theory Groups at Argonne
National Laboratory and the University of Notre Dame Physics Department
are seeking exceptional candidates for two postdoctoral positions that
will begin in October, 2005, or as soon as possible thereafter, with
specialization in Nuclear Astrophysics and/or Nuclear
Structure, and relevance to research at a future rare isotope
accelerator.
These positions are part of a joint initiative of Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Notre Dame aimed at advancing nuclear theory for a rare isotope accelerator and focusing on nuclear structure and nuclear reactions for astrophysics. At both institutions, we intend to provide an opportunity for post-doctoral training and experience to a person who has recently graduated; namely, graduated within approximately the last three years. Exceptional candidates with earlier graduation dates may be given special consideration. The Theory Groups at ND and Argonne have a broad-ranging program in nuclear physics, and nuclear astrophysics. We place strong emphasis on planning for and anticipating the output of future facilities: such as RIA. Qualified applicants should, at the earliest opportunity, send a curriculum vitae and a short (no more than one-page) statement of research interests to both:
and also arrange for three signed letters of reference to be sent to these addresses. Applications and letters of reference by E-mail are acceptable if supplied in plain text or PDF format. We will review applications as they are received and continue until the position is filled. Argonne and Notre Dame are equal opportunity employers and encourage the application of under-represented minorities.
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE The Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS) at Avery Point of the University of Connecticut is searching to fill a part time position to perform research on the campus at Avery Point in Groton, CT, on the shore of the historic New London Harbor. The position is intended to start in April 2005. Applicants will join the LNS research group that is funded by the US Department of Energy to perform research in Astrophysics using the Yale and Duke/TUNL facilities as well as in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute in Israel where we construct an Optical Readout Time Projection Chamber (O-TPC) for an experiment at the HIgS facility at TUNL/Duke, see http://www.phys.uconn.edu. This Research Associate position will also allow for the opportunity to teach introductory level classes on our Marine Science oriented campus at Avery Point. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to perform research in experimental Nuclear Physics, and a record of publications in scientific journals. Applications for this position should be sent, along with curriculum vitae, and at least three letters of reference, to:

NUCLEAR PHYSICS FACULTY POSITION Department of
Physics NUCLEAR PHYSICS FACULTY POSITION. The Department of Physics at Texas A & M University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Nuclear Physics, with an anticipated starting date of September 2005. Applications at the Assistant Professor level are especially sought, but appropriate advanced candidates will also be considered. (Because of an aggressive ongoing faculty hiring program, the Department also invites applications for faculty appointments in other areas of physics.) The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous independent research program at the Cyclotron Institute, and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Cyclotron Institute is based on a K500 superconducting cyclotron with associated experimental equipment. The facility is currently being upgraded to include accelerated radioactive beams. Candidates should submit a curriculum vita, a brief description of research plans (not to exceed 5 pages), and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to: Dr.
