Program

The summer school has three main components. The mornings will be devoted to lectures covering broad topics in both the experimental and theoretical physics of nuclei far from stability.

Short one-hour lectures will focus on specific areas of R&D leading towards RIA and the instrumentation and techniques which are being developed for use at RIA. These talks will complement the hands-on activities taking place in the afternoons.

The hands-on activities will take place at the HRIBF and will illustrate the equipment and experimental techniques which will be used at RIA. Students will be placed in small groups and will have the opportunity to do 5 of the activities.

Participants are encouraged to present their ongoing research projects in a series of short oral or poster presentations. These presentations were held each evening after dinner.

A rafting trip down the Ocoee River was held on Saturday July 22. Photographs from the trip as well as the entire school are available.
