A project is available in the Office of Analysis and Epidemiology, National Center for Health Statistics, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Hyattsville, Maryland.
Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will conduct epidemiological environmental health research. Using national health survey data combined with climate and pollution-related exposure measures, the research participant will investigate potential relationships between climate and health. Other activities may include disseminating research results through one or more research papers and presentations.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a Master’s or Doctoral degree in epidemiology, environmental health, statistics, or a related field, good working knowledge of statistical applications in SAS or Stata, and data management skills. Experience in statistical analysis and in managing large datasets required; knowledge of survey methods and technical writing skills advantageous.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.
The appointment is for one year and may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC, based on project needs and priorities and is subject to availability of funds. The participant will receive an annual stipend depending on educational level, work experiences and complexity of the project. The participant must show proof of health and medical insurance. The appointment is full time at CDC in the Hyattsville, Maryland. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator and there are no fringe benefits paid.
