A project is available in the Division of Scientific Resources (DSR) within the National Center for Preparedness, Detection, & Control of Infectious Diseases (NCPDCID) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Biotechnology Core Facility Branch of the Division of Scientific Resources provides CDC researchers with access to cutting-edge instrumentation, technologies, and specialized expertise in the areas of biopolymer structural analysis and synthesis, chemical biology, genomic sequencing, scientific computing, and bioinformatics. The DNA Chemistry Laboratory supplies custom synthetic DNA primers and probes to support CDC investigators as they develop, refine, and apply modern technologies for molecular diagnosis of the agents of infectious diseases.

BA/BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field is required. Basic familiarity with computers and automation and excellent communication skills preferred.
The appointment is for up to one year and may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC and subject to availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend depending on background and experience. The participant must show proof of health and medical insurance. The appointment is full time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator and there are no fringe benefits paid.
