ORNL’s Computing Resources

Scientist at ORNL Computer System

Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL) Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate features the following computing resources:

  • Cray XT (Jaguar) - the 1.64-petaflop system
  • ORNL Institutional Cluster
  • Kracken - National Institute for Computational Sciences
  • High Performance Storage System for software, servers and storage hardware in the National Center for Computational Sciences
  • Visualization capabilities including a large PowerWall display, a medium-sized visualization cluster and a visualization laboratory

These computing resources can be used to enhance educational and research experiences for faculty and students, making scientific discovery possible in the areas of superconductivity, computational biology, climate, combustion, astrophysics, and fusion to name a few.
