The University Radioactive Ion Beam (UNIRIB) consortium is an important collaborative partnership led by ORAU involving Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and universities interested in exotic nuclei and astrophysics research.

UNIRIB invites postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty from all over the world to perform groundbreaking physics experiments. These discoveries have led to significant scientific advances in the investigation of unstable nuclei using ORNL’s Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility.

The UNIRIB consortium also plays an important role in leveraging national laboratory and university resources to effectively accomplish the strategic science goals of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Consortium

The UNIRIB Consortium offers member universities the opportunity to conduct hands-on nuclear physics research at DOE's largest national laboratory.

Capabilities

UNIRIB provides training for students, from undergraduate to post-docs, in support of DOE’s efforts in building a highly-skilled scientific workforce.

Publications

The UNIRIB consortium places great emphasis on sharing research findings to expand the body of knowledge on nuclear physics.
