We take great pride in our strategic relationship with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and UT-Battelle, the lab’s managing contractor. For more than 60 years, ORAU has placed its highest priority on facilitating research by university-based scientists at the lab.
To build a solid foundation towards major scientific initiatives, ORAU focuses efforts and investments on helping universities establish such meaningful relationships at DOE’s largest science and energy laboratory.
ORAU has helped cultivate the next generation of scientists, engineers and other talented professionals from our nation’s academic institutions and beyond, while ORNL has invested in leadership-class facilities that provide a fertile bed for advances in research and new scientific and technological discoveries. Over the years, our ORAU/ORNL partnership has produced a variety of productive collaborations and educational opportunities for faculty members, students and recent graduates at ORNL though science education and research participation programs.
Together, we have designed, implemented and administered robust science education programs that serve the emerging needs of both the academic and laboratory research communities, through DOE-funded appointments, numerous ORNL internally funded programs and other appointments supported by federal agencies such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
