Timmerman Joins ORAU as Director of Procurement and Contracts Administration

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Heidi Timmerman has been hired as director of Procurement and Contracts Administration (PCA) for Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). In this role, Timmerman is responsible for directing the long-range strategic, as well as day-to-day, operations for the PCA office, which includes all procurement services, prime- and sub-contracting, as well as the Work for Others and Small Business programs. John Bennett, who served as interim director of procurement and contracts administration for the past eighteen months, will resume his former position as procurement manager.

“As director of the PCA office, Heidi will lead efforts to support all ORAU offices nationwide,” said Phil Andrews, ORAU vice president of Business Operations and chief financial officer. “She has more than 15 years of experience in supply chain management and contract management—which in combination—give her the technical expertise and leadership qualities necessary to help ORAU continue to pursue an aggressive growth strategy.”

Prior to joining ORAU, Timmerman served as vice president of supply chain operations for IdleAire Inc., and IdleAire Technologies Corporation where she was responsible for product and service support of 131 nation-wide locations. She also served as director of Procurement, Store Services and Contracts Management for Goody’s Family Clothing. In addition to her commercial experience, Timmerman was a U.S. Marine Corps captain, serving in a variety of roles such as company executive officer, department head and civil process supervisor.

Timmerman holds a B.A. in political science and management from the University of Rochester, N.Y., and a masters of business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds certified purchasing manager credentials from the Institute of Supply Management.
