Brumley selected to lead ORAU’s project management office

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Associated Universities has named Charles Brumley as manager of its newly established project management office.

In this new role, Brumley will advise ORAU in implementing and building more formalized project management expertise throughout the organization and will manage the operations of the project management office.

“We are pleased with the caliber of qualifications and experience that Charles brings to ORAU,” said ORAU president and CEO Andy Page. “His diverse work in both the government and corporate arenas integrates well with the varied and complex work we perform. Additionally, his many years as a project manager will be instrumental in helping us bring additional discipline to our processes.”

Brumley, a certified project management professional through the Project Management Institute, joins ORAU with more than 20 years of experience in project management, engineering, project controls, information systems, construction management and hazardous waste management and disposition. He has an extensive background with commercial nuclear power utilities including plant operations and refueling and maintenance projects.

Prior to joining ORAU, Brumley was a senior project controls engineer with Bechtel Jacobs Engineering in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he performed oversight controls of waste management and disposition programs.

Before that, Brumley spent much of his career working in construction and project management roles for commercial nuclear plant sites where he planned maintenance and refueling outages.

Brumley earned a B.S. in industrial technology and construction management from Illinois State University and is working toward a M.S. in engineering technology from East Tennessee State University.
