Shapard Named Associate Director of ORAU's Scientific and Technical Resource Integration Program

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Oak Ridge Associated Universities has appointed Dr. Leslie Shapard as associate director for the Scientific and Technical Resource Integration program. The focus of the program is to provide scientific and technical peer review services for customer needs.

For more than 10 of the 13 years Shapard has been with ORAU, she has managed ongoing and new projects. She has served more than seven years as a group manager, where she led peer review workshops and related programs and projects for the U.S. Department of Energy and other agencies.

In her new role, Dr. Shapard will manage ORAU’s DOE Office of Science peer review work performed through the ORISE contract. She will make operations and business decisions for assigned work, manage staff and resolve customer concerns. Shapard will also be responsible for refining and improving operations to ensure maximum value-added services to the customer.

“Leslie understands the needs of our customers and the peer review process extremely well,” said ORAU Vice President and Director of Scientific and Technical Resource Integration Tony Lester. “She has worked with the DOE Office of Science for more than 10 years and was a key player in developing the peer review support capability at ORAU/ORISE. She is well prepared for this expanded responsibility.”

Shapard is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she received a doctorate in philosophy and a master’s in human resource development.
