Weinberg committee presents plaque to ORAU

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Members of the Alvin Weinberg Committee (L to R): Cathy Meaney and Steve Stow, pictured standing under a plaque of Dr. Weinberg that was commissioned by the Weinberg committee and ORAU, met on Thursday to discuss fundraising efforts. The committee was formed in 2007 to honor and remember the nuclear pioneer who helped build the foundation that has maintained Oak Ridge's position on the forefront of nuclear energy development. Dr. Weinberg, former director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, also served as the director of ORAU's Institute for Energy Analysis from 1974 to 1985.

Through specialized teams of experts, unique laboratory capabilities and access to a consortium of more than 100 major Ph.D.-granting institutions, ORAU works with federal, state, local and commercial customers to advance national priorities and serve the public interest. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and federal contractor, ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
